Too be honest I’ve never been much of a goal oriented person. Over the past few years, I feel like I’ve really been growing into my own and being aware of things I would love to go after. Also being married to my husband for the past few years has rubbed some of his dream-chasing characteristics off a little on me 😉
This year I decided to try focusing on 3 things that I feel are the most important to our family in this season of our lives. Both my husband and I can get carried away with all the things we would love to grow in, change, incorporate. So for this year I chose these 3 things to give my energy to and learn to do them WELL, instead of spreading out my energy into so many other things at once that in the end nothing really turns out as I hoped it would.
Three things I am focusing my energy on being intentional this year in no particular order:
- Our family’s overall wellness. Would love to keep learning and growing in changing out products/foods/medicines/you name it that could be less toxic and healthy for our family. I’m still learning so much more about all of this, but I think these little steps are huge and in the long haul can bring really amazing transformation in our health and wellness. Excited to keep learning!
- Becoming a more intentional wife, mom, friend. Being more intentional with my times with Jesus. I crave those times and I’m excited to go on a journey of making spending moments with the ones I love the most important thing.
- Third, giving energy to some projects that Justin and I are really excited about. I don’t want to be afraid of the “hustle” and learning more about discipline and determination to see the dreams inside of us come to fruition. I want to learn to push for goals and not be afraid to try new things, because these things really don’t come naturally for me. I’m excited to see how it could potentially grow me in new/exciting ways.
For this post I will just elaborate a little more on number 1. Our family’s wellness journey.
Five years ago when Justin and I got married, we had almost no knowledge on wellness, healthy diets, healthy home products, etc. Other than the occasional salad and occasional exercise, we pretty much didn’t do anything lol. I feel like it was especially after having our son, Luca in 2016, we really started becoming more conscience of what we were putting in/on/ our bodies and home.
This hasn’t looked like drastic changes for us over the years. We really have taken baby steps for the past 3 years and have enjoyed the journey we have been on. We’ve done small things like changing some of our cleaning products for some that are less toxic. Really reading ingredients that are on food packages! As silly has that may sound- we’ve learned so much by simply doing this. I try to get as much skin care products, etc, that are as natural and organic as possible. These are just a few examples of small changes we have made over the past few years, and I feel really convicted and held responsible to really dig deeper into what I am giving to my family/children, and really KNOWING what the best options are for them.
So these year I’m committing to simply learning, researching, and growing more in all of this. I want to be educated. I want to feel confident in what is in our house and what is in my family’s bodies. I don’t want to be complacent, but I want to challenge myself to dig deeper into this aspect of our life and see where it takes us.
There’s really so much more to this, including just things with our health. For instance for the past 10 years I’ve really struggled with major stomach issues. Not until the past year/1 1/2 have I really been able to gain some freedom and health in this area just by making some small changes. Again this is all something I can elaborate on in the future. What I’m trying to suggest is all we have done is BABY STEPS. And I think thats all you really need to do too. Some people are amazing and do whole lifestyle changes and stick with it and their lives are changed. They are literally amazing. However we have taken smaller steps, and have continued to do so over the years. I’m excited to see what a year of being even more intentional will do for our family. Excited if you want to follow along!
